Chinook is outstanding. They take in some of the most vulnerable people in the valley and provide them with training, great opportunities and jobs. We are extremely pleased with the excellent grounds maintenance work Chinook provides the Port of Skagit at Skagit Regional Airport, Bayview Business Park, La Conner Marina and the SWIFT Center.
We often receive compliments on how our grounds look. Thanks for your hard work and excellent job!
Grounds services date back to Chinook’s origin in 1980. Back then, Rob Martin, Founder and CEO, secured work for a small crew of six, by selling lawn mowing services to local businesses. Today, crews are busy 5 days a week, 12 months a year to maintain 850 acres per week.
Artist rendition of Rob Martin in the early days. He used a Ford Pinto to transport crew and equipment.
In 2017, Drew Beals celebrated 25-years of successful employment on Chinook’s Grounds Crew. Drew is one of many individuals who has enjoyed a fulfilling career at Chinook. We celebrate work anniversaries every month at Chinook. Drew just celebrated his 27th in 2019.
Chinook’s landscape maintenance services include mowing, pruning, fertilization, vegetation control, leaf raking, spreading of beauty bark, lot clean up, and landscape installations. In this fun video, an afternoon with our talented Grounds Crew is compressed into 77-seconds of fast-paced action.
Chinook’s Landscape Maintenance Division continues to be a reliable and valuable source of integrated work for people with disabilities.
