Employment Success Spotlight – Cabinet Company Custodian Adapts Successfully to Change
Nicholas Ring has been employed at Wood House Custom Cabinets in Anacortes for nearly seven years. Nick is a hard worker and enjoys coming to work every single shift ready to fulfill his duties as janitor. He is also very athletic and active in local sports.
Recently, Nick faced a challenge at work when his supervisor Dave asked him to change his cleaning routine. He was able to overcome this challenge with some coaching from his Chinook Employment Specialist.
He normally starts by vacuuming both floors and then completing the rest of his task list. Dave asked if Nick could hold off on vacuuming upstairs because he is still working and sometimes on a phone call, and the noise from the vacuum is distracting and loud.
Like many people would react at first – change is not easy. And though Nick wasn’t initially excited about this change, he took it like a champ and did not let it affect his demeanor or performance. With some light support from his Employment Specialist at Chinook, Nick just buckled down and continued completing his tasks, accepting changes like this along the way.
Nick has had a great attitude about having to tweak his routine to respond to his Employer’s needs and ensure a happy workplace for everyone! #TeamNick
