About the Position:
The Landscaping Manager position is a full-time, non-exempt position which functions within the Landscaping Department of the agency. The position comes under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager. This position involves overseeing or providing the direct supervision of team members and program customers, landscaping tasks and managing all functions of the Landscaping Department. The position oversees the requirements of the company’s Landscape maintenance contracts, ensuring that all obligations and quality requirements with contractors are met on a consistent basis. The person employed in this position may perform landscaping supervision, customer training, quality compliance checks and contract relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage grounds maintenance contracts from contract initiation through completion, ensuring all landscape maintenance contracts are maintained in accordance with contractor requirements and best industry practices.
- Monitor KPI’s and lead strategic initiatives for contract growth, expansion of services and client satisfaction.
- Prepare and oversee proposals and cost estimates for projects with support from Partnership Specialist.
- Manage production work as scheduled to maintain contractual obligations.
- Provide supervision and support to the Field Operations Coordinator and Lead Landscaping Specialists.
- Monitor and ensure all vehicles, tools and equipment used by the crew are maintained and operated in a safe and efficient manner and that proper safety equipment is available and utilized by workers.
- Oversee maintenance practices for vehicles, tools and equipment to ensure they remain in a safe and proper working order, including scheduling routine servicing and confirming repairs are completed as needed.
- Make budget recommendations for new/replacement equipment purchases, techniques, and materials which could make the crew more efficient and productive.
- Operate hand mowers, tractors, edgers, blowers and other similar landscape maintenance equipment.
- Provide employees with regular feedback regarding work performance and complete annual performance reviews.
- Coordinate any issues with customers by communicating regularly with Employment Services Coordinator and staff.
- Attend scheduled managerial, staff and Board meetings and participate actively in problem solving and planning.
- Submit all required paperwork accurately and on a timely basis.
- Ensure all pesticide application logs as required by State law through the Washington Department of Agriculture are maintained
- Work independently on contracts, as required.
- Create and update records, submit timely reports, and prepare presentations/proposals.
- Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in landscape maintenance and operating landscape equipment is required.
- A minimum of three years’ landscape maintenance supervisory experience is required.
- Experience managing and developing employees, including coaching, performance management, scheduling, and operational oversight, is preferred.
- A combination of experience may be substituted for these requirements.
Certificates
- Required Washington State Driver’s license, basic vehicle liability insurance and be insurable.
- Chinook works with a vulnerable population, so all employees are required to submit and pass a Washington State Patrol background check as well as a DSHS background check.
- Must have, or obtain, a CPR certificate within six months of employment or current certification upon hire.
- Must have, or obtain, a valid Pesticide Management License from the Washing State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) within six months of employment or current license upon hire.
- Must take required courses to maintain Pesticide Management License annually
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move 20-40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, bend and reach with hands and arms; and use feet to operate foot pedal operation. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to spraying of pesticides and herbicides. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud and requires the use of hearing protection. Other PPE includes: safety shoes, glasses, gloves and hard hats or high visibility vests.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Starting Wage: $37.92 – $45.34 DOE
