Chinook Enterprises is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1980. We are a non-profit designed to operate as a business, but with a social mission: supporting full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers. About the Position:
The Landscaping Supervisor position is a full time, non-exempt position which functions within the Landscaping Department of the agency. The position comes under the direct supervision of the Landscaping Manager. This position involves supervising team members, working one-on-one with team members and program customers, production tasks and coordinating multiple support functions for the Landscaping Department. The person employed in this position will perform landscape maitenance tasks including quality control responsibilities, customer relations and production tasks working with all types of landscaping equiptment. Use of chemicals and sprays associated with landscaping maintenance will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Perform production work as assigned by the Landscaping Manager.
  • Work independently on contracts, as required.
  • Daily inspection of all work performed before leaving the job site.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order as needed, including changing oil on mowers at regularly scheduled intervals and sharpening mower blades as needed.
  • Assist program customers and assigned crew members in skill acquisition through the provision of one-on-one training, as needed.
  • Supervise non-exempt staff in the Landscaping Department.
  • Communicate with customers about services for assigned contracts.
  • Apply chemicals for weed control, fertilizers and so forth, taking all necessary safety precautions.
  • Operate hand mowers, tractors, edgers, blowers and other similar landscape maintenance equiptment.
  • Create and update records, submit timely reports, and prepare presentations/proposals.
  • Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Prepare cost estimates for projects of future need.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software with the ability to learn to utilize new technologies.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in landscape maintenance required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in commercial landscape operations.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience operating commercial landscape equipment.
  • A combination of experience may be substituted for these requirements.


  • Required Washington State Driver’s license, basic vehicle liability insurance and be insurable.
  • Required to submit and pass a Washington State Patrol background check as well as a DSHS background check.
  • Must have, or obtain, a CPR certificate within six months of employment or current certification upon hire.
  • Must have, or obtain, a valid Pesticide Management License from the Washing State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) within six months of employment or current license upon hire.
  • Must take required courses to maintain Pesticide Management License annually.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, bend and reach with hands and arms; and use feet to operate foot pedal operation. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly outdoors exposed to various outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to spraying of pesticides and herbicides. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud and requires the use of hearing protection. Other PPE includes: safety shoes, glasses, gloves and hard hats or high visibility vests.
